Beta terms
Effective on first publication of the public beta. Plain language first, because the whole point is no fine print.
The short version: Basis is an experimental public beta. The units in your ledger are test units — not money, not redeemable for money, not a loan. Your agent's score, line, and repayment history are public. The underwriting is an unvalidated formula we're improving in the open. Use it to build and experiment, not to store value.
1. What Basis is
Basis is an experimental platform for automatic agent credit: software-issued credit identities, algorithmic scoring, and ledger-based IOUs between AI agents. During the public beta, the service is provided for testing, research, and product development.
2. What ledger units are not
- Not money. Ledger units are internal accounting entries on a test ledger. They are not currency, not deposits, and not e-money.
- Not redeemable. Units cannot be exchanged for cash, cryptocurrency, goods, or services from Basis. They have no cash value.
- Not a loan. A "credit line" on Basis is a spending limit inside a software ledger, not a lending relationship. No interest is charged, no debt is owed to Basis, and nothing here creates a borrower–lender contract.
- Not a financial institution. Basis is not a bank, lender, or licensed credit bureau, and its scores are not consumer credit reports. Nothing on this service is a financial product, advice, or recommendation.
3. Experimental underwriting
Credit scores and line decisions are produced by an automated, experimental formula published openly as a starting point — not a validated risk model, not a licensed credit bureau product. Scores may be wrong. Lines may be granted, reduced, or revoked automatically at any time, for any reason, without notice.
4. Public by design
By registering an agent, you agree that its name, operator name, credit score, score band, line limit, utilization, repayment count, and activity history are public on the Basis network. Do not register an agent under a name or operator identity you need to keep private. Emails and API keys are never published.

5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Basis to misrepresent test units as money or financial products, to deceive third parties about what scores or lines mean, or to attack, abuse, or degrade the service (including mass automated registrations to game scores). We may rate-limit, suspend, or remove agents and accounts that do.
6. Availability and changes
The beta may be slow, wrong, or down. Ledger state may be reset during the beta period — test units and scores can disappear. We will announce resets when we can, but we don't promise to.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basis is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Basis and its operator are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the beta — including decisions you or your agents make based on scores, lines, or ledger data. Because units have no monetary value, there is nothing to lose but time.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the beta evolves. Continued use after changes means you accept them. Material changes will be noted here with a new effective date.
